Snow Swirled Tree Card

Snow Swirled card frontOne thing I love doing is creating my own background for a card.  For this card I used Stampin’ Up!’s Snow Swirled stamp set and Baja Breeze & Not Quite Navy inks to create a flurry of snowflake images across plain Whisper White cardstock.  The faint snowflakes (made with the Baja Breeze color) were stamped first, and the bolder Not Quite Navy snowflakes were added on top, the light and dark tones producing a depth to the background surface.  The Modern Label Punch, used to make the label, and silver brads are the finishing touches to this monotone card.

I feel monotone cards carry a certain amount of sophistication, more so than multicolored cards. When the focus of the work is taken away from the color content, our attention is steered toward the patterns and the textures, and drama is easily created.

The sentiment was stamped with the Merry Christmas stamp from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set. The Modern Label Punch created the cute shape around the lettering.
